Poor blog of mine

I really don't treat you well, forgetting about your existence when mine gets chaotic... And it has definitely been, recently! I first had a lot to do at work... and I mean A LOT! I work for my town and we celebrated the 65th anniversary of the town's Liberation, which meant a huge event to organize, mayor's speech to write, many people to coordinate, etc. It went well, thankfully, even if the rain... or rather storm... started right in the middle of the ceremony.

Since then I've been busy preparing our first IUI (intra-uterine insemination) that finally happened on Monday, March 29th. Can't wait to know if it worked... 15 more days to wait, the suspense is killing me already! I'm feeling ok, yet really tired and emotional. Don't know if it's because of work stress or because of the hormonal treatement, but I just feel like staying in bed all day, even if I can't sleep (woke up at 4:19 AM this morning... Ugh!!!)

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to take some days off, celebrate Easter with inlaws and then go to Switzerland to see my family and friends, especially my BFF's little daughter Ambre! Yay!!!

Positivity journal - 03.15

Today, I...
  • got my first shot for my TTC treatement, the IUI should be this weekend or rather on the beginning of next week. And it didn't hurt! And we'll be able to avoid getting the IUI on Sunday, when I have a huge professional event that I couldn't miss!! YAY!!
  • got confronted to a very very bad situation and had the right reaction, even if that kind of situation is always very complicated.
  • didn't lose my temper when 2 out of 6 people let me down 24 hours before a very important job, and found replacement people!

Positivity journal - 03.14

On Sunday I...
  • voted and felt really blessed for living in a democracy
  • had good hopes that "my side" will win the elections
  • managed not to slam my boss when he made a really mean and stupid comment about me
  • had a lovely dinner with DBF

Positivity journal - 03.09 to 03.13

  • I finished the town magazine that I was working on for weeks, and I'm happy with the result! It was a hard work and I'm soooooooo glad it's done
  • After a couple more flaws to correct, the town magazine is getting printed and out of my mind.
  • I finally worked decent hours again (like... not 12 of them!)
  • I watched a soccer game (something really rare for me) and the team we supported won!
  • I was able to organize my desk and it helps me feel productive again.
  • I got many little tasks done at work, you know that kind of tasks that you put aside when you have a big something in mind (like a town magazine of 36 pages) and then re-discover when the big task is over.
  • I'm having issues with someone at work, a collegue who is very arrogant and thinks she's everyone's boss, and I was able to talk about it with our actual boss. I didn't got emotional and drama-queen about it, I talked about facts, on a professional level, and this is a big thing for me!
  • It's Friday!
  • I helped a friend from work (preparing the elections)
  • I got an unexpected phonecall at work, since my bosses were unavailable I had to manage it on my own and I got good feedback on my initiative from my bosses later on!
  • I got back to a clean home... I'm so lucky to be able to afford a cleaning lady!
  • I bought a great DVD that will help people in need: each DVD represents 18 meals, 1 million of them are sold each year.
  • I went grocery shopping with DBF and we resisted the junk food temptations
  • I re-discovered the greatest genius of French music of all time, Georges Brassens.

Positivity journal - 03.05 and 03.06

  • 40 years ago, DBF was born. One of the greatest joy of my life started his journey...
  • To celebrate DBF's birthday, we went to eat with friends (she's a collegue of mine and he's DBF's godfather) and had a great time
  • I almost finished the magazine I'm working on and I feel more and more optimistic about being able to get it done on time
  • I had to work and it was an exhausting day, but I got a lot done. I love being productive!
  • DBF and I went grocery shopping together and we bought lots of good stuff. We've been starting to revamp our lifestyle for a more healthy living, and I was really proud of what we got during our shopping trip.
  • We spent the evening with DBF's family (still celebrating his b'day) and it was nice. I also had the surprise to meet friends in the restaurant, and I enjoyed seeing them and their adorable daughter, even just for a couple minutes.

Positivity Journal 03.04

Here are the good things I enjoyed today...
  • Despite his natural tendency to avoid making decisions, I managed to get answers from my boss and move forward in my work. I was able to negotiate with him and expose my point of view without getting arrogant (my main problem), to make him make a decision without looking like I was pushing him... Great balance, I'm proud of myself for having the right attitude.
  • I took a nap!
  • I cleaned up the kitchen.
  • I finished DBF's mini album for his birthday tomorrow.

Positivity journal - 03.03

It's only 7:30 AM, but I wanted to note my first good thing of the day because I was afraid I'd have forgotten tonight.
  • I got waken up by DBF snoring and talking in his sleep at 5:45, and since I'm so stressed because of work, I decided to get up already and go to work early. I was feeling tired and nervous, but when I was walking to the office I saw a moonset... like a sunset, but for the moon. The moon was going down, right above the river, with the sky all light blue and baby pink because of sunrise... It was gorgeous and it made me smile!
  • This afternoon I met an old man to prepare the 65th anniversary of the town's liberation. I expected the normal stories about life during WWII and instead I met a hero: this man was 16 or 17 years old and, with his dad, he helped escaped prisoners and jewish people to escape the nazis. He risked his and his family's life doing so, and he was totally aware of the risks. The best part was how humble he was: he insisted that we wouldn't publish his name when we write the story, he said "I just helped them out, it was normal, I wasn't doing it to get decorations"... Wow!
  • I worked a lot today, started at 7 AM, took just an hour lunch break and finishing at 6:30 PM. Anyway, it was a lot but at least I managed to feel more secure about the work I have to finish. I feel like I accomplished a lot and that is great! I'm knowing more precisely where I am and what I still need to do to finish this huge job, and it's not that bad after all! Good news!

Positivity Journal 03.02

Here are the good things for today:
  • I met a collegue's baby girl, she's 1 month old. I hold her in my arms for about 1 hour and she was just the sweetest baby. They lost their first daughter a couple years ago at 5 months of pregnancy, and it's making me feel really happy for them (even if we're not very close) to see this precious little baby. And I enjoy having a baby in my arms. Can't wait to have my own!
  • G and I went to see our endocrinologist and even though I found out G's health issues are more severe than what I thought, at least we are both motivated to do something about it. And his issues are not extremely bad either, we have still time to act and make things better! And I found out that I don't have PCOS after all!
  • I felt unsecure and shy about this positivity project, but I got a terrific response and support from my online friends and I feel happy about it! Thanks girls, luv ya!!

Positivity journal - 03.01

Okay, I wanna try something. I've noticed that I tend to be negative often, and that affects me in too many ways, making feel down, sad, bad. I want to try something for the month of march, and see if it boosts my happiness. It can't hurt anyway, so here's the deal: I'll try to journal every night and see the bright side of things. Finding the not so good part of an event is pretty easy, but it really hurts your spirit in the long term, so I'm ready to make the little extra step and find something positive even in the worst situations.

Let's start... Today, I
  • did the right thing (helping Aunt Berthe) even if it wasn't the most pleasant one,
  • met an old lady who was really gentle and soft, she made a strong impression on me
  • stopped twice before getting angry and mad (at myself or at others): the problems where not that bad that they deserved me to get stressed out and nervous. It was hard (I'm so quick at getting angry) but I succeeded! Go me!
Well, that's a pretty good start, isn't it? I'm not sure I'll have time to post on this blog every evening, but I'll try to journal positively one way or another... In French we say "no matter the bottle, as long as you get the wine", so "no matter where you journal as long as you can celebrate positive things"! (Actually, the real saying is more like "as long as you get drunk", but nevermind! LOL)

Have a good night everyone!
